Cultivating Style Through Sustainable Practices – Highlights from the TexDan Webinar

On May 9, 2025, Reginnova NE, together with its partners in the TexDan project, hosted a free online webinar titled “Cultivating Style Through Sustainable Practices.” The event brought together innovators, entrepreneurs, and sustainability advocates from across the textile and fashion sectors to explore how circular economy principles are reshaping the industry.

Reginnova NE & the TexDan Project

Since its founding in 2016, Reginnova NE has worked to strengthen the textile and clothing sector in Romania’s North-East region by promoting competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability. Through the TexDan project, involving 14 partners from 11 countries across the Danube region, Reginnova supports circular solutions, from design and production optimisation to recycling and remanufacturing.

The webinar reflected this mission by presenting concrete practices that help extend the life of products, reduce waste, and educate both businesses and consumers about the value of sustainability.

Inspiring Case Studies from the Region

Three forward-thinking enterprises shared their journeys and experiences:

  • Poartă-mă cu Flori – A local brand born out of a passion for natural dyeing and sustainable fashion. With techniques such as eco-printing and the use of plant-based pigments, the brand promotes low-waste design, water-conscious processes, and community education, while preserving traditional craftsmanship.
  • HUNA – Innovators in developing eco-friendly leather alternatives. From Piñatex® (pineapple leaf fibre) to materials derived from apples, coconuts, and mycelium, HUNA’s work demonstrates how creativity can replace resource-intensive leather production while supporting local farming communities.
  • Katty Fashion – A pioneer in digital transformation and sustainable production. The company is advancing toward the “Fashion Factory of the Future” with zero-waste design modules, AI-driven digital twins, and collaborative platforms for circular co-creation. Katty Fashion’s holistic approach demonstrates how technology and sustainability can work in harmony.

Key Takeaways

The discussions highlighted several important messages for the textile and fashion ecosystem:

  • Circularity is achievable through sharing, leasing, repair, reuse, and recycling.
  • Education and awareness remain essential – from local communities to international consumers.
  • Collaboration drives success – sustainability requires partnerships across industries, research, and policy.

Supporting Businesses in Their Transition

Participants were also invited to take advantage of free consultancy and €3,000 vouchers offered through the TexDan project to accelerate their circular transformation.

At Reginnova NE, we remain committed to guiding businesses toward innovative, eco-conscious solutions that secure both economic competitiveness and environmental responsibility.

Together, we are building the future of textiles – one that cultivates style while respecting our planet.
